Assessment of China’s Market for Lithium-ion Batteries (Update)

China’s domestic secondary lithium-ion battery market consists of four main products, segmented by cathode chemistry. These are Lithium- Cobalt (Li-Co), Lithium-Manganese (Li-Mn), Lithium Iron Phosphate (Li-FePO4) and Lithium-Nickel Cobalt Manganese Oxide (Li-(NiCoMn)O2. Segmentation is also made by composition: polymer and non-polymer. This target market (Mainland China sales, excluding exports) is valued at over RMB 12 Bn as of year end 2011, growing by around 14% in that year.
